| | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 934 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 934 | Sharing my experience with Greyhound expresss shipping. Purchased 1941-46 fenders. Seller placed one each in cardboard box and we shipped Greyhound.
Package arrived crushed. Expensive fender ruined. flattened, creased. Sent in a claim for reimbursement with photo documentation Of box and fender, including email from Greyhound Agent who received package.
Claim denied. Out money and fender. Spoke to claims department handling case. Pulled photos. All he could say was - auto parts shipped at risk of owner.
So, for those considering Greyhound - know the risk. Ask shipper or seller to crate with wood frame. Otherwise- your experience will be heartbreaking. Everyone made out in the deal and got their money ... sometimes you can’t win for losing.

The kicker is - waiting 7 years to finally have some cash to buy these long awaited original steel fenders. Been pecking away at this other project for 7 years waiting for the day I could buy rear fenders and justify it. Set back.

Has anyone tried Fastenal's shipping service (aka Blue Lane Freight)? They will ship retail freight door-to-door between any Fastenal stores in the US.

When I lived in near Albany NY - the Greyhound shipping "agent" was an axxhole.

Of course it is hard to hurt a seat that needs to be reupholstered... Looked like it had been drug across asphalt pavement and ate thru the cardboard. The damage was repairable ....so in the end, its usable. As Tom stated, better have the seller crate it up real good.

They don’t come along very often. I hate it too when good sheet-metal gets damaged. Too bad they won’t cover damage to auto parts. Always thought Fastenal distributed industrial and construction products and other services. They’ve really grown into a powerhouse! Never heard they provided shipping though until recently. Thanks for sharing your experience, and sorry for your loss.

Ed It depends on the body part and on your "packing". I had a rear bumper filler panel shipped by Fastenal this year. It was packed in a beautiful wood box by one of our members (delux54panel). The shipping was relatively expensive, but the service was excellent. | | | | | Joined: May 2006 Posts: 934 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: May 2006 Posts: 934 | Appropriate shipping crate and careful shipper would have prevented this. Stings.lesson learned all around. Posting this here for folks to avoid this experience.
