I just bought what I believe to be a 1937 Chevy 1/2 ton truck cab, fenders, hood, no engine or chassis with no title. It does have a vin tag# 14GC0810383.I tried looking it up on VIN Buster but was not able to access the site. Any help would be appreciated as I plan to apply for an Arizona bonded title. Thanks in advance.

Here's your breakdown...14GC0810383

14 = Baltimore Plant
GC = 1937 1/2 ton
08 = Month (July)
10383 = unit number starting with 1001

Thanks Mike B. I really appreciate it. I needed something specific as it has been my experience doing bonded titles, the agent doing the inspections do not refer to how a vin tag is deciphered. I haven't been on this site for awhile. Is VIN Buster no longer available to search vins?

VIN Buster uses Adobe Flash Player which has been disabled by some browsers. You can go into your settings and manually enable Adobe Flash to make VIN Buster work.

You can see all the info needed from the Chevrolet archives at the GM Heritage Center web site.

The 1938 serial number info is hard to follow as it's spread out across a few pages, but they made it much clearer in the 1939 package using the exact same format.

Here's the 1938 info...you need to look at page 4 for the model identification "HC" and then page 9 for the serial number location/number starting with 1001.

https://www.gmheritagecenter.com/do...hevrolet-Trucks/1938-Chevrolet-Truck.pdf

Here's the 1939 package...page 13 has a complete sample of the serial number format.

Hope this helps,
