Hello all.

I'm looking for a late model donor truck to swap an AD truck body onto. I'm having some difficulty finding a damaged truck online. Does anyone have any good suggestions of where to search for whole salvage vehicles, insurance buyouts, etc?

Salvage yards would be a good start, E-Bay is another. Totaled vehicles show up on there, usually you can get them cheap.
For your AD (I'm assuming it's an Advance Design '47-'54), you'll want a standard cab long bed S10. They're the best chassis for the modern chassis swap.

Just a suggestion....."Craigslists" for your local area might be a good place to put in a "Wanted" call. Most J-yards are connected together on a parts network.....give them a call. S10 trucks are common...I bought a whole running long bed regular cab truck with front sheetmetal damage for $150.

Online stuff will have you running all over the place....the Craigslists are localized and the j-yards will deliver for a price. Hope this helps.

In our area, there's an insurance pool accessable via internet. www.saisc.com Insurance companies usually send these things to auction. There are literally hundreds of cars & trucks on this salvage pool every two weeks here in Phoenix and in Tuscon. Check with your insurance company to see if they do something similar. Don

I would go to the bigger yards and to big event swap meets in your area,

Thanks for the help. I'm actually looking at putting a big-bolt AD body on a full size 4x4 3/4 ton latemodel frame (88-06).

I don't know your neighborhood, but in mine (Seattle) there is a 4x4 swap meet coming up in the next few weeks and you might find such a thing somewhere like that. But I would bet you can buy one that runs and drives for $1000 if you look around awhile. The older ones are not very valuable.
