Anyone see one of these on a first series truck before , the ash tray on mine is on the opposite side .I think it may be from a car.

I have to say I never knew the dash grill came out.
I have never seen a chrome one.

Looks like it is for the car.

The dash grill on mine does not appear to come out I was thinking it was something that went overtop . My truck is a canadian truck and I know there are two types of dashes for my year already . Looks like the ash tray may be the same cheap enough anyway to take a chance but I think we are correct that it is from a car around the same year.

54/55 1st Series radio grilles are not removable and have no chrome (OEM) insert application.

It is not a Chevrolet Truck ashtray/dash (grill).
It is not a GMC ashtray/dash

1954 Chevrolet and GMC ashtray/dash (grill) are different.

1954 Chevrolet and GMC 1954 dashes/ashtrays (grills) are different from 1953.

Neither make had chrome grill in 1953.
Chevrolet had no chrome grill in 1954.
I forget how-much (and where) GMC had chrome/stainless features/parts on the Z-series (54/55) dash.

Brad posted the simple answer : it looks to be a Chevrolet car grill.
