Just to be sure, I am working on electrical for a 51 chevy coe. Is it correct that the parking lights don't stay on when the headlights are engaged (with the switch pulled all the way out?) I assume this is correct based on seeing a thread about putting a jumper between the Park and Tail connections on the headlight switch to effectively turn them into running lights, but would like to confirm!

Thx,
Derek

You are correct, the parking lights do not stay on when the headlights are engaged or on.

Thank you Kent! Interestingly enough, I saw a post that said to run a jumper wire between the Park and Tail light connections at the headlight switch if you wanted them to stay on when you pull the headlight switch all the way out (and turn the headlights on). I did that but it didn't work. Any idea why that would be?

Correction - I pulled the headlight switch back out and one end of the jumper had come off. Gotta have it hooked up to make it work there fella : )

The other neat thing you can do is to change the socket in your parking lights for a twin filament bulb and then you can have parking/driving lights and turn signals. I did that back in the 70s and have really enjoyed having turn signals without having to use some mickey mouse add-on lights.

Thanks Jon G!!! Actually, I wired it that way for the parking lights in the grill. I like the look of the Mickey Mouse lights and they're just wired to be running lights. There are double filament and wiring for such going to. Unfortunately, they don't fully blink yet, because as bartamos tells me, if I don't have the rear signal lights hooked up (which I don't), they'll pretty much just gonna light up. If I turn the signal on, the flasher works and you can see them ever so slightly blink, but not anywhere close to like you would want them to operate during driving conditions. Thanks again, I appreciate your feedback and all the rest I continue to get from this site. I just wish I knew more about electrical in general, it's my weakest 'game' and so even the most obvious aspects trip me up sometimes.
