Hello Fellow Stovebolters. I need help with my clutch pedal assembly please. I removed the inch-thick layer of dirt and grease from the pivot point at the frame for my clutch/brake pedal linkage. At the transmission-side of that linkage, there is some type of spring loaded cap. It seems to be missing a housing. I can't find the name of that part for replacement. Any help would be much appreciated.

Thanks, Mike

OK, I figured out that the end of the assembly has a few retainers, a spring, and a pin lock. My new question is, how do I remove that pin lock? I want to pull the assembly, clean it up, and reinstall it.

Thanks,

I have a 49 3100, The "pin lock" on mine is the same as the locks that hold the brake shoes. It's like a washer. To remove you pry up the end with the loop and slide the keeper out of the groove in the shaft. Yours may be the same.

What Ed Said.
Chevy kept using that part on the end of the pedal shaft even after they changed the brakes to Bendix from Huck in '51.
Here's a picture of it. You need to compress the spring a bit.
Brake Pin Lock
And if you need a new one. Check Here (You have to buy a pair). Be aware there are two different OD's available, so you should measure to be sure they match yours.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.
