Good Morning

I am in the process of rebuilding my Carter YF 2100s and came across a port that the new gasket doesn't have provision for. The old gasket has a hole for this port which appears to just seal it as there is no place above for Vacuum or fuel to move. I am thinking that plugging this port should be fine but wanted some suggestions.

The port on the old gasket has a screwdriver pointing to it, and my finger pointing to it on the carb.

Thanks In advance
Jeremy

I thought i would also show this picture, it shows that the new gasket doesn't cover the port all the way and may leak vacuum or fuel?

Jeremy - that port is the vacuum source for the automatic choke used on the 2101s.

I just checked a couple of 2100s carbs (manual choke), and this passage is not on my carbs.

The gasket to the left is for a 2100s.

The gasket to the right is for a 2101s with automatic choke.

Have no idea why your 2100s has the passage. Since its only function is to provide a vacuum source for the automatic choke, which you should not have, it may be plugged. The easy way to plug the passage is to take a split shot sinker just slightly larger than the passage, and gently press it into the passage.

Jon.

Good carburetion is fuelish hot air
