Get someone to sit in the driver's seat and cycle the steering wheel while you look at every item in the steering system. Also while there look for things like broken leaf springs, loose or broken shackle mounts, etc.

That would be a place to start. If you still think it is in the drivetrain, jack up the rear axle, put it in gear and have someone else carefully observe the running gear.

Don’t rule out the tires. It’s hard to get a good set of tires these days that don’t warble on city streets at 25 mph. I tried two different sets of Michelin Defenders and a set of Bridgestone’s on a 2016 Explorer after the original factory junk wore out. Finally traded vehicle because we just didn’t like it overall. I’m thinking I’ll go with Coopers on my ‘57 Chevy 3200 when it’s ready.

You can find 15" 1 piece wheels for 6 lug GM pattern in lots of widths, 5 to 5 1/2" width should be about right for those tires.

Yes showkey, I usually put old yeller on jack stands with an L shaped piece of steal and attach a piece of chalk close to tire using a small vice grip. With tire turning slowly push chalk unit all the way across. If chalk is either light to heavy take to a tire/wheel shop that trims tire to a true round with a cutter. Doc.

Tires will flat-spot if left sitting in one position too long. Especially true for bias plies.

Nylon tires are particularly bad for flat spotting.
