I really should have posted progress pictures a lot sooner but I have a build that has been going in fits and spurts for upwards of 5 years. Even went through the loss of interest phase for a while.... This Covid thing Got the fire under me again to make progress.
This project started as a 1947 GMC 1 ton project with a completely disassembled truck I picked up for 500 bucks. The cab was way too far gone but there were many positives like a blasted and painted frame and lots of good parts.
Along the way I acquired a 100% rust free cab from Arizona by way of Long Island as well as another 52 donor truck. So that’s why I say it’s a 47/52. The motor and trans are from the 52 as well as several other parts and the frame is from the 47.
Fast forward to now and we have finally made progress. Motor and transmission has been redone and today we hit a major milestone and got it all mounted up in the frame.
Congrats Chris for having a great project truck. Be sure and share with us pictures of the finished truck. Is it going to be a 9' bed pickup or a flatbed?
I can see you have a 53 – 55-1st series 235. I think you have a Chevrolet frame, not a GMC. The front cross member – where the front engine mount is looks like a Chevy. See attached link. https://www.stovebolt.com/ubbthread...gmc-1-2-short-bed-frame.html#Post1346359. You can see the difference between the cross members. They are different due to the GMC engine being longer than the Chevy and the radiator is more forward. Do you have Chevy or GMC front sheet metal?
You will enjoy the big girl when she’s done. The ole one time sure draw people in at shows. It’s a very cool looking project. Welcome to the Bolt, by the way.
Maybe it’s a ‘47 truck trait, or my eyes are deceiving me, but do those front frame horns look really long? My 1ton’s frame horns aren’t that long.

Thanks Rob. Yeah, the color is great. I wanted the green but wanted to choose my own green (not stock) working with my local paint supplier looking over hundreds of chips. I settled on a few and in the end I let him make the final choice. Then if I didn't like it I could blame him.... lol.
Got the doors mounted this weekend just to check the fit and alignment. I am very pleased with them and how they came out. Belt line lines up nicely (can't tell in pictures) and I just have to tweak the gaps a little.
Also did a test spray of the interior color I am leaning towards and put my gauges in just to see how they look with the color. Held up one of the chrome pieces also to see how it looks.
