So many years I bought a 50 something gmc to haul rock with. It has a grain bed on it with two shoots so it worked well for 5/8 minus
It’s just been sitting. Department of motor vehicles has no record and I have no paperwork. So to register it I have to jump through hoops. I’ve almost got it running but brakes are on the floor. So driving it into town is a problem.
Ser# 353 24 c 194. Hp 104@3400 max gross weight 16000 max gross combination weight 26000.
It has a 248 in it with a 2 speed rear end.it has pull down door handles and wing windows
One guy told me with the pull brown handles it’s a 1951.
I’d appreciate ant info. You all can give me. It’s a cool old truck I’d like to make it a runner.

In CO one can get a title with a notarized bill of sale, try that in Idaho?

Best I’ve been able to find says 353 is a 350 model 24 = 248 c=Oakland 1941 is production number.
So I’m guessing it’s considered a 5 ton truck.

All paperwork has been lost so I have to pay for someone to check the numbers and appraisal of value. I’m sure that will be inexpensive.

I build quite a few resto mods. I have never had a problem getting a title for any of my vehicles in Florida. We have a law that provides what is called a HOME MADE Title. But, one must provide as many numbers off frames,engine or door tag. I have a 34 Dodge P/U that has a 440 c.i. Super Wedge. Ford interceptor front end and nine bolt rear end. I got a title. I did the same on a 1951-3100 with a 235 engine and got my home made title. One has to be very careful because FHP checks it. If they disapprove, back to the drawing board. FHP will always help. Doc

Every state has different regs, I tried to get a 1966 Jeep I bought titled here in Alaska, I had a Alaska title signed by the owner, who had passed away, but, he had signed the title in the wrong place on the title. I went to the DMV with the title and they told me I would have to get a bonded title, so the Manager of the DMV told me I had to get the Jeep appraised, with pictures, by a state approved appraiser, in writing. ($125)
, have the State Troopers inspect the vehicle and sign off on all the paperwork (No cost, had to lead the trooper through it all) then get a non-cancellable bond for the appraised value from my insurance agent,($200) bring all associated paperwork and pictures back to the DMV, was kept waiting for over a half hour only to be told by the same manager I had spoken to earlier that she wouldn't issue a title because the 54 year old Jeep was "incomplete" Good Luck!

Back to the question of year (anecdotes from states other than the OP's, while possibly interesting, are not helpful. Only his own state DMV can tell him what he needs to do) ...

We need to see pictures of the cab to tell you year. Or you could try this, for starters Yes, yes, I know its for Chevrolets (I wrote it ) but it mostly works for GMC's, too.

Turn down door handles are on 47 through 51. Its only a '51 if it also has the vent windows in the door (vice the one-piece glass) and no side cowl vent (replaced by the vent windows). Unless the doors got changed ... Pictures will help the GMC experts id the year for you.

Ok I haven’t used photo bucket in a long time. Now it wants to charge me for 6 months minimum. I guess I have to find another outfit before posting a picture.
