Working on a 53 3600 and trying to figure out wheels and backspacing. What width should I be shooting for to fit inside rear fenders lowered 4"?

70"? 72"? 68"?

I am putting in an 8.8 rear end that measures about 60.5".

Most measurements in comparing rear ends use wheel mounting surface(wms) to wms, choice of tires.

Ed

'37 GMC T-18 w/ DD 4-53T, RTO-610, 6231 aux., '95 GMC running gear, full disc brakes, power steering, 22.5 wheels and tires.
'47 GMC 1 ton w/ 302, NP-540, 4wd, full width Blazer front axle.
'54 GMC 630 w/ 503 gasser, 5 speed, ex fire truck, shortened WB 4', install 8' bed.
'55 GMC 370 w/270, 420 4 speed, grain, dump bed truck from ND. Works OK.

I am 60.5" WMS to WMS but dont have the bed on it. Trying to figure out how wide I can go and still fit under fenders.

I will measure my 53 3100 inside of fender to inside of fender in the morning.

Old enough to know better, too young to resist.

Sorry about the delay. On my not perfect 53 3100 I measure the outside width of my beat up bed at 50 1/4". I measure the inside of the fenders from the bed at 12".

Old enough to know better, too young to resist.
