Any one had any luck with EFI swaps on small block Chevys or any applications? Lots of product on the market. Some are tuneable some not tuneable.I would like some success storys to make me feel I'm headed in the right direction.I'm looking at a company Mass-Flo.Their web site is www.massfloefi.com .They claim to be a plug and play system. The price is not cheap but reliability and different will be good.I have poundered the tuneport setups but don't know how they adapt to cubic inch displacment changes. My applications is a 383 full roller .Approx. 425 hp/425 ftlbs torque.

My brother ran a Holley EFI on his Suburban at one time. He ended up swapping to a carburator before he sold it. He wasn't impressed with it.

The Chevy TPI system will scale to a mild 383 but has to be modified to support the kind of horsepower you are talking about. I have a TPI and am mostly happy with it, but I'm not making anywhere near that much horsepower.

I have a friend that used the Edelbrock multi port system and loved it.

I'm looking at the Holley stealth ram or the Mass Air Flo like you. The stealth ram looks pretty good but haven;t made up my mind yet.
There is some good info on this site.

I have done the tune port swap twice. I love it for reliability. I am running stock engines though. If you are doing different cams and bigger engines you need to use the mass air flow system. It can be tuned to bigger engines. The speed density systems are not very good with major modifications like you are talking about. Try the site thirdgen.org or thirdgeneration.org . There is a lot of real good info there about tune port motors and modifying them

I had to laugh when I read that. My TPI car is sitting outside not running-- won't start.

First time it has failed me, but it doesn't feel real reliable today!

Now I have to figure out how to troubleshoot the thing.

I bought a Z/28 motor/trans with EFI - I'm not positive yet that I'm gonna use it. I drove the Camaro before I bought it and it had great power & acceleration, but the wiring looks daunting (I stripped the wire harness too).

One step at a time...

Everything is different now...

Start with your basics. Spark and fuel. Anything else bad on it will usually send it into limp home mode, but more than likely will run. Check your fuses, too!! That computer needs power!

Don't even bother with the old harness unless you are strapped for cash. I tried messing with it for two days. I got the worst headache and finally quit. I bought 2 one from the detail zone and one from a guy off of ebay. Both of them where real nice and worked very well. It makes for a rel clean instalation

I did. I basically called my favorite garage today and confirmed they have time to look at it, and then called triple-A and had it delivered.

The car has set for more than a week and today I realized it would be at least one more week before I would have time to look at it. I can't wait that long for another 'vette fix!

It's Christmas time, the plastic is already smoking; why stop now?

I bought a book on swapping Chevrolet Fuel Injection that seems to have lots of info on wiring, not so much laid out for setting one up, but put there is a way that made me think I could adapt an harness using it.

But I haven't tried it, and today I sent my broken TPI car to a shop instead of deal with it myself...

Turns out the problem on mine was ignition, not fuel injection.

hi I setup a couple of ram jet from GM these work great. the set up is easy . run all day long . one got used on a cube van for service . logged some big miles. the other on a 383 motor in a light car. both ran 4L60 for transmission. not racing set ups .

I started my EFI project back in '00 when I bought a lightly rolled over '00 Sierra, removed the cab and bed, modified the wheel base and mounted my '56 Burb body on the rolling chassis, using the the engine, transmission and running gear.
It's been one obstacal after another...long story.
I was just thinking the other day that I'd be better off yanking the Vortec engine and transmission out and replacing it with a carburated engine with a 700r4. At any rate, here's a pic of the engine.

You'll be glad you did ! Ive just got my 51 frame stripped down for a mustang II kit and the I also got the blazer tank with the intank pump. I cant wait to install it for the 350 TBI and with a 700R "thats shift points are controled by my ECM from affordable fuel injection" along with a rebuilt 1981 trans am rear end with disc brakes. I'll post pictures when the install is finished
Todd

Seon it looks like you about have that project wipped.I know the Vortec after market wiring is impossible to get so you are stuck with the rats nest. That is why I steered away from that setup because its not easy.We currently have a Vortec on our Dyno and we did not get the under dash harness. We can run it but we need to see the sensor data to continue. So make sure your OBDII connector is functioning as it was in the truck .You will need it if you have any running issues.Carb would be easy but thats no fun.
