First things first: So a couple weeks ago, I posted asking for recommendations on alternative chemical strippers to the no longer available old formula aircraft chemical stripper. For reasons I will not go into, that post went sideways. Misinterpretation/overreaction on my part. I own it. I've privately contacted the other board member that was involved and we've sorted things out.

I did want to let everyone know that I did purchase a can of the new formulation of Kleanstrip Non-Methyl Chloride Aircraft Stripper, which is purportedly supposed to strip 2K modern automotive grade paints, etc. Well my experience was that it did not do anything but smell bad.
I'm sure you recall that the old Aircraft stripper, in many cases, will blister paint on contact. The instructions say results should be seen in 15 minutes. I left this stuff on for 12 hours, and all it did was dry into a skin that looked like an apricot fruit-rollup. It peeled off in a similar fashion, and the paint underneath was literally as good as new. At the very least, the citrus based stripper that is meant for latex made the paint gummy.

So, long story short, don't waste your money on the new Aircraft stripper that is out there. It is worthless. I ended up going to HF and grabbing the 15 lb. soda blaster and turning this whole thing into a 10 minute job.

Hope this helps someone else in the future.

Thanks for reporting back! Good on you for clearing the air on the muddiness of the old post. Many of us have been guilty of misinterpretation and running off the rails. Some of us don't come back and admit it though, so good on you!
BTW, whenever things go sideways in here, it always seems a be two way street. That is the "beauty" of the hastily written word on the internet with a long lag time between responses.

Was it possibly actually a lacquer finish? I just stripped an original 1965 olds 442 with original lacquer paint using the new aircraft stripper. It didn't blister. Just made it soft and if I didn't scrap it off with in a few minutes it hardened right back up. It took two coats and the second coat turned it into a goo. It had no affect on the factory primer whatsoever.....

Thanks folks, in the 50's and 60's my father bought Strip Ease by the gallons for new farm equipment assembly (everything from the factory was super thick paint), took paint off in seconds. When we got a piece of used but good equipment like a hay baler dad had me pour it on it only took minutes then I used a steam jenny. Wow, every where the paint was looked like chrome. I have been trying to buy and use all types of stripper. Is it all child proof now? I have used black sand in my blaster, what is the best to use? Doc

Without the Methylene Chloride, the paint stripper is weak.
