Motor is in and I'm using the old starter from the 216. I's having trouble turning the motor over. Yes it's 6 volts. Rebuilt generator, new regulator but I believe 40 year old starter.
Would rebuilding the starter fix the issue? I'm sure the 225 will take a little more juice to turn over but it still should be able to do it. Very quick advice needed! Thanks!

It seems to turn the motor just fine, but it doesn't seem to fire. Mechanic says it will fire with a 12 volt jump. What needs to be done? I'm sick of waiting. | | | | Joined: Mar 2019 Posts: 1,003 'Bolter | 'Bolter Joined: Mar 2019 Posts: 1,003 | If its turning the motor, "just fine", why do you think its a starter issue? Did you check for spark, fuel? | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | A 6 volt starter will work fine on 12 volts. Just don't leave it on forever.

I will try some starter fluid to confirm if it’s fuel | | | | Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 Crusing in the Passing Lane | Crusing in the Passing Lane Joined: Jun 2011 Posts: 5,096 | Ether wipes oil off the cylinder walls, best to use a small oil can or such with gasoline in it.

Need to check the timing, fuel pump, and carb for fuel when pumping the gas pedal. Problem is its at a shop and they're not working on it enough. I may have to pay them for what they did and get it the hell home to fix it myself. Frustrating to see your baby waiting for some love. | | |
