I was thinking of posting this and Alaska Jim's post encouraged me to do so.

It is on my 53 GMC 3 ton grain truck. I personally find it unusual, as I am use to these old grain trucks having unbranded, under-box hoists. Normally I see this behind cab type on dump trucks.

I did try it and it does work, though the cylinder did leak when it got near the top. Also, should the leaver have a neutral position or do I need to disengage the PTO for that?(hence why the leaver is in the cab.)

alex...the pto s ive been around didnt have a neutral not even 2-speed ones my dump truck is a no name too and is either on or off. its tuff can put on 8000 lbs white rock and it will pick it right up...take care of my driveway that gets fed-ex traffic with it. hoist leaked at first around control shsft put a fresh retaining screw in it sealed it right up

Forgot to mention: figured it out and it is why they put the lever in the cab, so you can control both the hoist and the PTO, so you can turn it off when it is high enough.
