I have a 53 235 engine main bolts needed. I have a couple of main bolt broken. When I look for new bolts they list 54 thru 62 . So will they work on 53 235 main bolts?

I have a set of main bearing caps and bolts out of a '56 235. There are four 3" bolts with 9/16"-12 threads, and Six 2 1/2" bolts with 1/2"-13 threads. If these are the same as yours the 54 through 62 bolts should work.

I just re-measured the bolts and there are four, three inch 9/16-12 bolts, four 2 3/8" 1/2-13 bolts and two 2 1/2" 9/16-12 bolts. Sorry for the confusion and I hope this is what you need.

I got the new ARP bolts. But I found some cracks in the rear main in the block. So the block is chunk. I think I will find a 250 engine. Could I possibly be able to use the ARP bolts on a 250 engine?

No, there are a different number of bolts, different size, and 7 main bearing instead of 4 on the 250. You're opening up a huge can of worms if you try to go to the later model engine- - - -nothing will fit. The bell housing bolt pattern is different, and so are the motor mounts. Where are the cracks you're concerned about?

If you plan on going to all that trouble why not a 292?

I found a 292 I will be picking the 292 tomorrow. The cracks were about a half inch long. The cracks was on the side of the block were the oil pump mounts to. Another crack was on back of the engine block. Were the rear main bolts.
