9 1/8" clutch disk #384190 valeo brand for my t-5 conversion. The first picture shows that i ground the spline surface down a little. This side points towards the transmission.

clutch disk other side

Here is a picture of the front shaft after extending the splines. The clutch disc travels about 3/16" further now.

front shaft

I'm just learning how to post a picture without all the long code.I figured i would try it here.

Tim, did you have to cut the length of the front shaft also? I have heard that just a little cut off and grind the splines like you did makes it shift correctly. The clutch you are using dhat pressure plate and throw out bearing works with that, and will this also work with a V-8 set up?
SORRY for so many questions but I am starting to do this on my '48 and i would like this tranny to be right the first time and not take it in and out. Thanx again, Mike

Yes,i did cut off 1/2" of the nose of the pilot shaft.I don't know if you have to using a v-8.I also cut 1 1/4" off of the collar of the transmission that the throw-out bearing rides.Do a search to make sure,go to inliners site and read up on the t-5 swap.

the pressure plate and throw-out bearing are the original application for my truck. The only thing different is the clutch disc. The clutch disc is #384190 valeo brand. The flywheel is the original 216 flywheel.I believe there is one other flywheel available that will accept a larger clutch and disc.

I don't know about a v-8 setup,do some serches here and in the driveline shop.I'm sure someone here can help you.

Tim, I did a search from that clutch on the autozone and then the Valeo website but the part# 384190 wasn't recognized. Can you tell me where you bought it or what make/model/year vehicle it was originally for?
Thanks
Dave

DW,I purchased it from best bilt parts in springfield, mo.

best bilt parts

Talk to berry, they build and rebuild clutches.Try looking it up with out the 38, just 4190.

I believe he said it was for the s10 application.I believe 1985-1986,not sure what other years are involved.

DW....you might try a RCF-4201....NAPA carries them. Application is from an 83-84 Firebird, 2.8L V-6. I run it on my stomp-start old-style flywheel on a 56-235 with an 85 T5. It required no modification and works like a champ. Hope this helps!

The problem i ran into was this. The inner hub of the clutch disc would not fit into the center of the pressure plate.I tried a few from the auto parts store. The valeo from best bilt was the only one i found to fit my pressure plate.Make sure your discs hub fits inside the pressure plate.
Hope this makes sense !
