Hi All, I thought I would put up some pictures so those that are interested can see how things are going. I bought 84 F250 rotors and 85 C20 Chevy calipers.

I turned the spindle to fit the inner bearing.

Machined the spacer, it needed to be rounded on the inside to fix the spindle fillet. The fillet is needed to prevent stress risers.

The diameter of the spacer needs to fit the rotor grease seal.
I am now working on the mounting bracket. This is made harder because the 4 spindle bolt holes are not on the same plain. I hope to use a flat plate but I will know more in a couple of days.

I am also going to have to make a spacer to go behind the castle nut in order to space it out so it will work with the cotter pin holes

I think I am at the point where I can say I think this will all work out in the long run. I get time to work on it here and there. I will say this, there is more work in putting all this together than I thought! Rick In VA

Rick,
Looks real good. How much further out from stock does it put the wheel mounting surface?

Looking good!

I'm curious about the impact on track width just like Ghostrider is.

Looking at the need to create a spacer on the outer end prompts some questions.

1) Have you considered drilling a new hole and shortening the spindle instead of using a spacer?

2) Did you consider creating a sleeve spacer for the inner race to move the disk further out, and possibly allowing the caliper bracket to be on the spindle side instead of the axle side of the kingpin?

3) Did you investigate putting the spindle in a mill and making the surfaces level where you are mounting the caliper bracket?

I know its always easier to respond to someone else's work than to figure it out from scratch. I'm wondering if you considered and rejected any of these ideas, and if you rejected them, why?

Rick In Va.

Interesting pictures. I put 76' Nova front rotors and calipers on my old '51 pickup and the process was almost identical to what I see in your pictures.

I made the bracket to hold the caliper out of 1/2" T-1...it worked perfectly. Great job and good luck.

Rick, thanks for sharing pics and detail of this process. It appears that the wheel mating surface may relocate inboard? If so this may create problems with the tie-rod ends. Hope the rotors are thick enough to properly locate the wheels. We appreciate your trial and error time!

Hi All,
Your point about the position of the rotor on the spindle is dead on. I decided to move the rotor out by increasing the length of the spacer. I will move it out till the castle nut grooves fit the cotter pin. There is another advantage to doing this, that is by so doing, the mounting plate can be mounted on the outside of the spindle bolt holes rather than the inside of the spindle bolt holes. The spindle holes are on the same plane on the outside, making the fabrication of the bracket much easier. I will make up a new spacer and bracket and take a picture for you all to see. I think if the rotor is moved outward, the tie rod ends will not be an issue. I have another concern and that is that I am almost certain that the 15 inch standard wheel will not fit over the caliper. 16 or larger wheels may be needed. I don't have a wheel handy right now but I will get one and let you know about that as well. Thanks everyone for advice, you can save me a lot of reworking!
Rick
