As is likely known here, GMC's name for Chevy's 'Advance Design' is 'New Design'.
Chevy also used the '-master' suffix for a lot of these trucks, such as Thriftmaster and Loadmster.
What I'm wondering is if GMC also used a similar naming scheme?

The term New Design was supposedly not officially a series name used by GMC. This topic was recently discussed on the oldGMCtrucks.com discussion board.

Advance-Design was an officially used term by Chevrolet for 47-55st trucks.

I think that GMC just used series numbers for their light duty, medium duty, and heavy duty trucks.

Thank you!

Does this mean it's OK to call my GMC an "Advance Design" "Loadmaster"?

I'll take a look around that old GMC forum.

You can call it anything you want...but technically GMC never used the terms "Advance Design" or "Loadmaster", they're a Chevrolet thing.

If it were me, I'd just call it what it is...a '53 GMC 9700.

GMC owners would probably take-offense if their trucks were referred-to as Advance-Design (inferring an equivalence between GMC & Chevrolet trucks)? nono

Funny how the marketing works........

Agree..........GMC should have been the “ADVANCE DESIGN”

The Chev..........old design. Especially in the engine. Low oil pressure, babbit bearing etc
