This is the number on the block is 3836288 and below that is GM 11.
Can anyone verify the engine I have.

Be sure to keep your distributor, the 1955, 235 is a newer type than all previous types. I ordered a 235 OEM several years ago and it will not fit 54 back. Doc.

It is true that the pre 55 distributors are different then the post 55 2403 distributors. The differences are in the lobes, points, rotor and cap. But my decades old delco remy books all provide the later 2403 distributor as a service replacement for the earlier distributors. If I can get a shot of the page I will post it.

But I didn't find any reference... Anybody know what I'm referring to.
