hello,so ive posted about my engine before,just bought this truck a few weeks ago(1946 gmc 1/2 ton) with what I was told was a 228 engine but thinking its a 236 by the number stamped behind the distributor

Take the cap off and look at what delco numbers are on the point plate and post back.

I don't see any numbers,it looks as though the point plate may have been replaced

That’s a first for me. I have never seen a blank plate.

Early GMC distributors usually have a tag on the outside and are not stamped on the points plate.
