I'd like to keep the stock pedal but don't know if I need to totally revamp. I'm using a small block with an Edelbrock and a 600 cfm Holley. Any ideas on how you guys hooked up your linkage and what pedal setup you used would be appreciated.I'm lost!!

KillerKnight,

I did this same swap and used the pedal assembly out of the donor car...a '76 Nova.

This obviously wasn't the stock pedal.

Knowing how the SBC fits into the engine compartment, and how it snuggles up to the firewall, I think it would take some creativity to use the stock setup.

Lots of linkage stuff is available, so it probably could be done.

The modern day cable setup works smooth as silk and turns corners to boot...maybe a aftermarket cable assembly is available.

garyg,

Do you have a part number. I searched their catalog and couldn't find the item you describe.

They are the old "Chevy Duty" aren't they?

I wonder if this piece will fit a '53 AD. The part indicates '55 through '59 V-8.

the 55-59 V8 linkage [a very good repro of the OEM linkage] is very specific to the shape of the TF firewall and positioning of the pedal in the floor - I really doubt it would work on an AD without so much modifying ya might as well make yer own or adapt a cable setup like Stuart sez

the catalog discrption i have says; v8 throttle linkage....... throttle linkage for v8 installations. requires 53-54 gas pedal. so i guess a call to classic parts is in order to see if it will actually fit a 53 truck. i will inquire and report back here.

i contacted classic parts about the 89-651 v8 throttle assembly. their tech dept. responded by saying that the assembly works well on advance design trucks and they have had no problems with this part. the only advisory is that it needs a 53-54 gas pedal to work as stated before.hope this helps!
