Also their power window's. Good quality and good prices. I plan on using the same in my 41 plus their windshild wipers. Check out there ad in the truck mags. I am also going to use their instruments. | | | | Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 Extreme Gabster | Extreme Gabster Joined: May 2001 Posts: 7,440 | I used the 12 circuit harnes from Hot Rod Wires on my '56 3100. You just call them up, tell them what your building, they will ask you some specific questions and then send you the wiring harness to work with motor & charging system. | | | | Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 248 Wrench Fetcher | Wrench Fetcher Joined: Nov 2005 Posts: 248 | I ran an EZ Wiring 21 circuit system in my '63...worked great. | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 2,733 | I also used the EZ Wire kit. Very simple, excellent quality, good instructions, and half the price of the others. Why wouldn't you use it? | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | Painless has the tech staff to back up their product. Joe

Now cruising in the Passing Lane | | | | Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 510 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2003 Posts: 510 | I used a generic 12 circuit Painless harness in my 29 Model A pickup this past summer. It was a lotta work, but it was less than I had originally anticipated. Once I got the fuse box mounted and started running bundles of wires in the general direction that the were to go, it wasn't bad at all...just time consuming.
Now I have the whole thing converted to 12v, with halogen headlights and turn signals (and brake lights) in the stock housings. If I were to do it again, I'd go with another Painless kit, just cuz I'm familiar with their layout.
One thing I really liked was having each wire marked with its circuit number and name. That was a BIG help. The other thing I ended up doing was installing a ground bus near the main "Maxi-fuse" so that I didn't have to rely on frame or body grounds. I'm hoping this will pay off in the long run, especially when I use the "A" as a salt flats pit rat.
There are pics of the whole adventure on my website, which is in my sig. | | | | Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 Shop Shark | Shop Shark Joined: Sep 2003 Posts: 1,820 | I have toured the Painless Wire facility and know several of the owners and tech people there. Even though I have not personally used the product, I know people who have and I know people who install the product. I have never heard of a serious problem and the ones I have heard of were solved almost instantly. Of the installers I know, they all say once you use Painless, you'll never go to anyone else's. What I found intersting is their test facility where they actually research wiring and electrical components and the effects they have on vehicles! No - I don't work for Painless and I am not a spokesperson for them, but I know a good product when I see one! Joe

I then visited the Hot Rod Wires booth. The guy was very helpful, very knowledgeable and builds a very good harness. The wires are larger than they have to be and plenty long. And a lot less expensive than Painless. I'm very happy with the one I put in my '56 and as stated above, intend to put another in my '54. | | | | Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 Moderator - The Electrical Bay | Moderator - The Electrical Bay Joined: Dec 2002 Posts: 3,374 |

While the RF is a more complete and custom kit the EZ Wire is adequate and less costly. RF has you terminate the wires at both ends and this allows for a cleaner, easier routing in my opinion. RF also has more complete and detailed instructions if thats what you need. It is hard to beat EZ Wire on cost. | | | | Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 61 Member | Member Joined: Nov 2006 Posts: 61 | Company called "EZ" wiring. Aircraft qaulity, color coded, marked every 5" and cheap at around $160.00. I like mine.
