I’v a 54 1/2ton chevy whith a Gas tank behind the seat
My problems
A. when i’m riding The fuel gauge indicator (a new one)is always in mouvement.
And Parked i’m never sure the gasoline level is correct it’s indicate quite empty but i full it whith only 6,6 gal
It’s not precise enougth
Is there any modern Gas tank sender unit fit whith this old tank or other solution ?
B: My consumption is about 29 liters per 100 kms (9,74 mpg)What do you think about?

My fuel gauge bounces on rough roads when the tank is not full. I think that this is normal for these old vehicles.
Bending the sender float arm might make it more accurate. Of course, you have to remove the sender which is somthing I do not want to do. Instead, one day, I plan to siphon all the gas out and refill the tank while noting the gauge position. This way I will know how much gas I really have whatever the gauge reads.
10 mpg? Since you have stock transmission and gears, I am not surprised.

Thus I would empty the fuel tank completely. Then put in exactly 4 gallons which is 1/4 of a tank. Check the readings. If not directly at 1/4 tank, I would remove the sending unit and bend the pivoting arm accordingly.
Obviously you also need to make sure the float is not leaking.

You are getting 8.11 MPG. Very bad.
To maintain 20% reserve fuel. Drive a maximum of 182 KM after fill up.

What RPM or speed, and what type driving (steady speed or start-and-stop)?
steady-speed driving, I get:
16-18 mpg 45-55 mph
12-14 mpg 55-65 mph
3.55 rear ends

For the speed it’s about 50 55 mph on the road
31mph on the street
3.90 rear ends. 54 235cu

Do your spark plugs develop black soot on them? A malfunctioning carburetor will do that. It is receiving too much fuel, most of it goes out the tailpipe unburned, greatly reducing fuel economy.
Make sure that your liter-to-gallon and kilometer-to-miles conversions are correct.

Perhaps the odometer is Not correct while my tires are 6,50 R 16 instead of 600 R16 or other reasons
