Got some major wear on my rocker arm shafts and arms, with one that isn't getting lube. Curious if there is a "goto" source for re-manufactured assemblies, or someone we trust to rebuild?

There are usually a few sets of rockers on Ebay. I think I saw 5 or 6 there yesterday. It's also pretty common to find new rocker shafts listed there.

Search "235 Chevy rocker arms" or "216 Chevy rocker arms" I have found 3 complete sets and several components, plus a couple of sets of new shafts in the past hour. 216 rockers will fit, but you might have to do a little tweaking on the oil supply system.

It's fairly simple for anyone with a lathe and a few active brain cells to bore the rocker arms out and install bushings to get them back to the correct fit on the shafts, so don't discard the worn ones.

Be careful the check for ovality, the rocker arm ID wears more on the bottom than the top.
I haven't found any bushing or sleeve near the desired ID/OD (slightly tighter than the OEM .792", not too much metal off the rocker ID).
Anyone care to guess how thin the bushing wall can be (and still re-use the worn rocker shafts)?
Allowing for saw kerf, looks like a single 13" length will make all 12 bushings.

By coincidence, Harley-Davidson piston pin bushings 1936-* are .792" ID and more than 1" long (long enough for 1 rocker), but that ID allows no room for significant wear on the rocker shaft. Available as cheap as $3.25 each. Sorry, can't find the original OD.

I'd suggest using a tool post grinder and reducing the diameter of the rocker shaft a little, and using the same chucking reamer and bushing on the rocker stands as you use on the rockers.

A Federal-Mogul #1394 piston pin bushing fits a 0.875" hole and has a suggested inside diameter of 0.7508". It's 1" long. Use a 7/8" chucking reamer to enlarge the holes in the rockers, and the rocker stands, press the bushings in, and grind the shafts to fit the bushings. That bushing is supposed to fit a bunch of Wisconsin engines from 46 to 94 cubic inches. They're on Ebay for $14.11 each, with free shipping. A little careful shopping could probably locate them for less.

Here's a better deal- - - - -7/8" OD by 3/4" ID oilite bronze bushings for $4.20 each. Press them in, and ream the bushing to a few thousandths under shaft size, then grind the shafts to fit. An ID of 49/64" (0.766") or 25/32" (0.781") would work, depending on how much shaft wear you need to correct. Press a short piece of bushing in from each side, and leave the oil groove and spit hole clear.
