Does anyone know what the inside diameter of a new rear brake drum is for a 1950 3100? Thanks for any help. I tried contacting several popular vendors but no one would reply.

The specification for 3100 brakes is 11 inches. I'm assuming that would be inside diameter of the drums. There may be a maximum diameter (11.0X for instance) cast into the drum somewhere near the rim. That's usually seen on more modern brake drums.

If you're smart enough to take it apart, you darn well better be smart enough to put it back together.

Not that odd. That's 3/32"+/- larger in diameter. ohwell
I'm not sure that the ID would actually be 11.000", but would be surprised if it isn't.
The issue is weakening the corner by getting it too thin. These are cast iron and you don't want the friction surface breaking away from the part that bolts on to the hub. Stopping just the cylindrical part wouldn't help much with braking. eek
