He said that he uses an additive to inhibit flash rusting.
It's pretty obvious that Dennis was an amateur at it. Also he probably isn't planning on reusing the trim.

He said he would come out to my house and give me a bid. He also does powder coating. He said that he puts a chemical on the surface, like Kevin mentioned, that keeps it from rusting and he has seen trucks go for a year with no visible signs of rust. I have absolutely no proof, but that is what he said.
I sure would like to know what others have experienced with this additive.

If I can find someone closer I'll definitely give it a shot. My cab corners and steps are 'Swiss Cheese" so I'm really not concerned with the finish just getting it striped.
