There is an application for a “Certificate of Ownership” if the vehicle is 30 years or older, or has a fair market value less than $3000. See link to actual form below. My wife and I have definite plans to move to Tennessee this summer - the sooner, the better. And I want to hear from someone who has used this process. Thanks. Now I know having a good, clear title is best. But sometimes you find a truck you just can’t live without... It’s hypothetical. Once I get to Tennessee I want to be able to “navigate the waters” if I find one with title trouble. It looks like TN has a way to do that, legally. Any Tennesseans been down that road? Thanks.

I’ve been an Advance-Design Chevy guy for 30+ years. I like later Chevy trucks, too: 55 - 66. And I like all kinds/ brands of 40s to 60s trucks, but I want another 47 - 55 Chevy. And I like 3/4- tons. I would consider a 1-ton pickup or stakebed. But probably not a Big Bolt. Price will be a consideration, of course. 😎

Don Can you say BUSTED?  | | | | | Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,774 Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) | | Kettle Custodian (pot stirrer) Joined: Feb 2004 Posts: 29,774 | I have gone through a similar process involving a motorcycle that was given to me without a title because it was about to be confiscated by Nashville City Codes department as an "abandoned vehicle". In that case, the previous owner was known to me, but he was refusing to give up the title because of a family dispute. I was able to have the VIN number confirmed as "not stolen" by my local sheriff's department, and I was able to apply for a salvege title by filling out a state form and providing an appraisal of the bike's value by two dealers. Then I had to publish a notice in a local newspaper with a description of the vehicle and the VIN number stating my interntion to apply for a title. It's a fairly complex process, but with a little time and patience, it's possible to have a title re-issued here in Tennessee if the vehicle has a legible VIN number.
