I purchased this 1966 Chevrolet Suburban for $600 on September 9, 2017. It was found abandoned in the woods near Dothan, Alabama, and it is completely original. It has olive drab paint in the door jambs, and there is a government contract number on the VIN plate. It probably was used on base at Fort Rucker during the Vietnam War. I believe that it was sitting for approximately 30 years before it was rescued. It has the original 292 Inline 6 engine, and has a SM-420 transmission. The odometer reading is 64,704 miles, and it probably is the actual mileage,
I managed to get the old beast running within a few weeks, and it runs remarkably well. Here is a short video made the day after it first ran. At the time, I thought it was sitting for about 20 years, but I later determined that it was more like 30. There were a few coins found inside that dated before 1983, and there was a Coca-Cola bottle cap from the early to mid 1980's. The oil filter also appeared to be from the same time period. The bumper sticker on the front bumper is from WOOF, a radio station in Dothan, Alabama.
