I haven't been able to find much info on the operation of the Garwood dump bed on my 1956 6100. Does anyone know what the difference is between the two levers in the picture?

Also is there any good documentation on the operation of hoist?

Crawl underneath and turn driveshaft by hand while exercising levers.

if the garwood controls are like other hoists, one lever engages the PTO and the other engages the hydraulic pump.

I agree with oldbolter and Ed, you need to crawl under the truck and see whick is connected to the PTO on the side of the trans and which one is linked to the hydraulic pump control valve.

If you get your hoist working, make sure you always block the bed from falling if it's in the raised position, many guys have been crushed when the bed came down while they were servicing the truck.
