I would like to make my old truck paint shine. I do not want to clear coat it. Has anyone done the Mineral spirits mixed with Boiled Linseed oil on original old paint and how did it turn out? Here is my old truck paint wet. You can see the very middle is dry. Pros? Cons? Experience? Thank you
I just did this on my Sunbeam Alpine. I went sanded with 2000 grit, polished with a power buffer at the slowest speed. Then I followed up with McGuire's canuba wax.

When I got my red truck it looked pink. Scrubbed it down with lots of Magic erasers, and now I just wipe it down 2-3 times per summer with Gibbs penetrating oil. It's not cheap at $17 per can , but it only takes about 1/2 can to wipe every thing down. I try to keep it dry and covered up though.

Those look great. What about DUST? Does the Gibbs attract dust re:Oil? Thank you for your responses. Will a slow polish take off the old paint? I did do a section with Magic Eraser. Made the Forester green darker. But no "shine"
With the Gibbs oil I wouldn't drive it down a gravel road or in the rain, or I would just have to do it all over. For just normal dust sitting out, or a light rain I can just do a quick wipe down with an oil soaked towel. I keep a big cover over it most of the time, or stored, but I haven't had to wash it in 2 years, which is not easy on this beast. I wipe down everything I can with Gibbs, including the wheels, and under the hood. It does a good job of protecting exposed metal, and coating light rust too.
