I searched this forum but looking at the titles of the post I don't see anything like what I want to do. Has anyone had any experience with adding a door lock to the drivers side? I would prefer one that had the key in the door handle but the handle still look stock.

Back in the good old days, when you parked on a street, you did not get out on the street side (you could get hit by a vehicle in the road).
People simply got into the safe habit of : - locking the driver's door from the inside - sliding over to the right side - getting out through the right-side door - looking that door from the outside
Confirmation of this can be seen near the end of the excellent movie "Hud". The kid got in and got out of the right side of his old Chevy pickup truck (out of habit - in his driveway). | | | | | Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Jan 2010 Posts: 4,263 | | | | | | Joined: Jan 2020 Posts: 96 'Bolter | | 'Bolter Joined: Jan 2020 Posts: 96 | Thanks dads50.. Looks like this will take some prefab and work.. I was really hoping I could use a handle or lock from a 51 -??? That would be an easy fix..

Im not sure. I think you would have to use the whole 51 door, someone else might know for sure | | | | | Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 794 Former BMW Rider | | Former BMW Rider Joined: Dec 2013 Posts: 794 | Coilover posted this a while back.
