Im actually at my inlaws house in central Florida. My farther inlaw just attended the Kissimmee Mecum auction recently and grabbed a few magazines on the way out. I found the ad in the pic and thought maybe it would be useful to someone. By the way he got to see the Steve McQueen Mustang get auctioned. Cool stuff, but not that anyone cares here..
I was there as well...opening bid was set at $3500 and when the auctioneer said "who will give me 3500", 7000 people raised their hands...then it jumped to $1 million, so just that fast I was in and out...lol! It was fun to watch and there were a lot of nice GM trucks there as well.

Virtyually all the rebabbiting done these days involves pouring the soft bearing material into slightly undersized molds that position the connecting rods or main bearing bores correctly, and then the Babbit metal is machined or honed to the finish size. Original equipment GM rods were formed by a process called "Centrifugal casting" where the rod was mounted into a spinning fixture and molten Babbit metal was sprayed into the preheated rod to form a thin, very tough layer, harder than most modern rod bearing material. I can tell if the rods I'm fitting or machining are original or reconditioned, by how the metal cuts- - - - -original GM rods will actually dull a high speed steel cutter bit after a few passes.
