Hi everyone
So I just got myself a one ton 1952 GMC and it is in not to bad shape really. Wondering for a good place to get some wheels and tires for them as you see stuff for 5-6 lug all the time but not as much for the 8 lug? Also and the real hard thing to find I think is going to be a new transmission rossmember. It is the only thing that is broke and in need of a all new piece I believe. Does anyone know of a place to get one. I am not against getting new parts trying to keep everything g stock if I can. Thanks for any and all advice. Sorry for slow replies as I am new and it takes a bit.

If you can weld and cut, you could remove the pieces, make a patch tacked together, reinstall to check fit, remove and finish welding back together. A good first exercise on your truck. Other weight trucks might also have your crossmember.

Does your one ton have dual or single rear wheels? Modern 8 lug wheels will fit, best to switch to tubeless tires as many tire shops do not do split rims.

I've seen 8 lug wheels on ebay, facebook market place and craigslist. Also, check the parts for sale in the swapmeet forum... post a parts wanted thread too.

Thanks for the info guys it helps a lot. I was thinking of just taking off and checking if I could weld it. And the less tires does seem the way to go more just want to keep the size close to original if I can.

Back in the day we used to put Chrysler 8 lugs on our GMC farm truck's (about 50), we had to re- bore the Chrysler hub a little which left plenty of the hub lip not too thin.

welcome to the Stovebolt. That is a good looking truck. I put 16" wheels on my 51 1 Ton single wheel. The trailer wheel people sell a wheel that fits my truck. I used a 750 x 16 tubeless tire on the truck. Bill's truck in Courtice may have a crossmember for you. I find his shop is a good place to visit as he always has trucks and used parts as well as the new parts.

I'll add my 2¢ - the 8-lug wheels are really common. 8 on 6.5" pattern, and GM used them all the way through the 2000s, at least. There are 19.5" one-piece wheels out there that have the hubcap clips, but I haven't had any success finding any. I'm restoring the stock 17 x 5 Firestone type AR wheels on my '50 - it's one of the safer designs, and since mine are original to the truck...

Anyway, you should be able to find what you need. 16, 17, 18, 19.5... all common and available!
