i have a 1948 3/4 T chevy, and the gas guage show full when the ignition is on, and empty when the ignition is off, regardless of the fuel level in the tank. Is there a test to see if the sending unit is bad? thanks

The easiest way is to remove the sending unit and ohm it out. It should go from 0 to 30 ohms.

I pulled my sender ground as a test and the gauge went to full

What you describe sounds like a bad ground somewhere, either at the sender or gauge.

Check for good clean grounds

Sender should read 30 ohm full

I would remove the sender wire and ground it to a good ground. The gauge should show full. That will rule out the gauge as being bad. Clean the contact on the sender and wire connector to it. See if that works. if still not working . Take a jumper wire with alligator clips and install between a good ground and the ground connection of the sender. If that works then the ground wire is bad. If still not working the sender is bad.
