I've always been impressed by the construction of Hydrovac units- - - - -rugged, "no nonsense" pieces of equipment meant to last a long time and be repairable when necessary. They serve the same purpose as firewall mounted boosters- - - -"Make the driver's leg stronger"- - - - -but they do it better than less-robust equipment. Just looking at the diameter of the boost piston, and the stroke makes it appear that lots of brake fluid at a high pressure is available when needed. Some older motorhomes used two small hydrovacs with a split brake system, back in the 1970's. I believe they were plumbed in a "dual diagonal" configuration, where one rear wheel and the opposite front shared the same hydraulic system. Jerry

Ain't that purty. Looks just like the one I installed on my one-ton. Sent in a unit from an old Cadillac for a core. According to a book I have, 70+% of the braking force is done by the hydrovac. I installed mine after my knee gave out when driving my rig with slide-in camper pulling two motorcycles on a trailer through Vancouver rush-hour traffic on the way out to Vernon BC. It's the same knee that I use to kick-start the motorcycles. Could there be a connection?

Sorry for the late reply, I would have to look back to check now what it cost me but I believe it was around 400 $ Canadian.
The cost of then new unit was fair considering what I would have had to pay to have a rebuild kit shipped to Canada from the States.. Especially when factoring in the possibility of receiving wrong parts etc.. If I would have sent it out for a rebuild, again it would have gone out to the states and it would have been a total mess around and the same price if not more once said and done.
