For helping keep this great
old truck web site
on the Internet for over 30 years! and not clogged down with Ads! Took a couple of measurements of my Rubicon Wrangler... Looks pretty close to working in my 40. Jeep axles are ez to get! | | | | | Joined: Oct 2005 Posts: 4,261 "Hey! Or get some 5 to 6 lug adapters swingdaddy, you are overthinking this rear end swap | | | | | Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 Shop Shark | | Shop Shark Joined: Dec 2004 Posts: 1,897 | Maybe I am overthinking this swap, but as I do not have a good shop to let this sit at while I try to iron out the bugs, I am trying to get as much 411 as possible, find a solution(s) that works for my budget and timeline, gather all parts needed for swap, and get it right the first time.
I have a virtually unmolested 1940 gmc. The truck runs... But I would not drive it more than a couple of blocks. It needs everthing including brakes.
I would like to swap the 228 for the 302 I have, change the 3 speed to a 5 speed, swap out rear axle to an open driveline axle, and address all the brakes at the same time. It just seems like less work to do it all at once.
