I was looking at this red 54 on ebay and noticed the rear end. At first I thought the rear tires had a severe case of curb rash and were flipped around. Then the axle stops caught my eye. Picture attached. Surely not? I sent a warning message to the seller but never got a response.

Once I see something wrong I naturally want to see if there is anything else that looks suspicious. I'm more interested in learning from mistakes than pointing fingers. Critiques appreciated: 1.) Looking at the front axle, why so many nuts on the u-bolts? Spacers? Re-using the old u-bolts with the new spring packs and not enough threads remaining on the old bolts? 2.) The front axle stops, hard to see in the picture, is now close to the frame....maybe bottoming out? 3.) The steering arms, drag link and pitman arm look original judging by the amount of dirt and grease. I wish there were better pictures available. Example of potential bump steer caused by modification? I'm beginning to think that this was someone's project that never got completed and was sold off. It was then cheaply dropped in stance to make it appealing visually. Ebay item 124038490328 and currently has 13 hours remaining.

Blocks in rear are contributing to bump stop distance. I would not drive this, at least very far. Somewhat dangerous. And this is all seen in pics. Im sure in person, its going to be worse, not better...
Apon closer looking at the rear. Curb rash may be coming from tire actually rubbing bump stop? And the brake line appears to be directly over the axle to where if the bump stop would contact the axle, the line will be crushed... eeeee

Actually looking at the view toward the outside of the truck rather than from forward of the axle, it looks like the brake line is routed to the side of the bump stop. But still, it's not safe to drive. I see that there are no bids to date. I wonder why?

The more time you spend looking at the pictures in the Ad the more you find wrong. In one of the pictures you can see fluid dripping off the exhaust

Another has a cable for the parking brake looped around the pin and held on with a cable clamp instead of a proper clevis. No telling what the other end has on it. Actually both sides are that way. The tranny is leaking a bit as well.

Mistakes 1.) The 235 engine was 105 horsepower not 92 2.) It did not have an oil bath air cleaner but a dry element type 3.) The "contrasting black running boards" are red in their pictures....that's got to be a bit embarrassing.
Missed selling points 1.) Air conditioning (not completed) 2.) Conversion to 12V and alternator 3.) Front disc brake conversion 4.) Later model Saginaw 4-speed transmission with $$$ Patrick's modified Hurst shifter. 5.) Later model rear axle (year and ratio TBD)
