Any idea what this unit is? 235 or 261 or a combination? L = 1953
A = car 235 equipped with a Powerglide transmission
Q = Tonawanda, NY engine plant
12953-1000 = 11953rd engine out of that plant in 1953
It would have hydraulic lifters.

I noticed that the 4 speed front bearing cover(where the to bearing slides to operate the clutch had 6 perimeter bolts,. I always thought that there were only 4 bolts holding this front retainer on. | | |
