[img]http://[/img][img]http://[/img] I pinched the wire for the electric fan between the grill and the fender blew a fuse I fixed the smashed wire replaced the fuse. Electric fan won’t power up is it possible I blew up the switch as well? Thanks
Where is the power to the switch coming from? You might have another blown fuse somewhere upstream. Check to see if power is getting to the switch before you start shotgunning parts at the problem. Jerry

Are you trying to control an electric radiator cooling fan with that switch? If so, you're headed for trouble in several ways. It won't have the proper current carrying capacity, and if you attempt to use the low speed circuit, that resistor wire will get red hot and probably cause a fire under the dash. Jerry

I did have the radiator electric fan hooked up to that switch with a relay Was only using one speed on the switch high I smashed a fan wire between the fender and grill blew a fuse now the fan quit working, Been chasing wires .
Was almost home from a nice joy ride and using the heater. All was rebuilt and repainted as part of the recent restoration of our '58 Apache 3100. Had been using the heater for about 45 minutes this morning. Had heater fan on Low and stopped to wait my turn at a traffic signal. Started down the road and heard a flapping noise. First instinct was that it was a valve problem, again. Noise wasn't loud, but it quit shortly after it started.
Is this likely a switch or a motor problem? Did not see any blown fuses at the main fuse panel below the dash.
A flapping sound would indicate to me that something came loose in the box, possibly locking up the fan motor. Just a guess.ðŸ›

Something probably got sucked into the squirrel cage blower, and either got ground up or passed through it after a while. Mouse nests usually make a squeaking noise, followed by a bad stink when that happens. Jerry

I had mice in my squirrel cage, around the heater core and just about everywhere else a mouse could fit. Fortunately, my squirrel cage was not damaged, other than a bit of rust.

Exactly what do you want for nothing? Have you investigated the fan for obstructions? You have been given all of information necessary to begin to look for solutions to your mystery, harmlessly colorful as the advice may have been. Thanks Jerry and Carl for attempting to help. This is a garage stored truck, driven weekly and one I doubt the mice have had time to find. Replacing the original fan motor with a new one. Checked for power at the fan motor and found none. Also no blown fuse. I believe we are on to a solution.
Good deal, John! Although it doesn't seem like it so far this winter, you will be needing a heater soon enough. February is the month of misery for us in Virginia and NC.
