Can anybody point me in the right direction to a light truck 2 speed differential information. I would like to install one in a 3/4 ot 1 ton. The ideal is to get decent highway and good pulling power behind a V-8 or late model diesel. I have not been able to find any info on how they work or if it will be avaiable in this weight class.
maybe 308:1 or 335:1 over 390:1 or 4.11:1

The frame shape left no room for an overdrive trans, so they made a planetary-gear rear end to take the place of the overdrive. For OD ratios in a 3/4 or 1-ton, try to find a Clark 5-speed with OD on 5th gear. Passenger-car transmissions like the T-5 will be too lightweight to handle any truck duties except cruising around with no load in the bed.
