Okay, I've got a 61 c-40, and I was just wondering how many of these trucks are out there. I've noticed, at least around here, there's alot of 55-59's, and 63+, but I've never seen a 60-62 on the road. I also almost never see trucks large than 1 ton. Are these more rare than the others, or do you just not see them as much? Also, how hard is it to find parts for these? I know most of the body seems to be the same as the smaller trucks, but I was wondering about the brakes, seals, etc. I'm also looking for a front engine mount for this truck, as it had a bad 235 when I got it, and I'm putting a 327 in her. Anyone got one just laying around? Sooner or later, I'll get some pics, but I can't just yet. This lookes like it's going to be apretty nice truck, especialy since it was a $100 truck.

Hey, I've got a 60 C40 tow truck. Some prior owner put in a 350. I still see these around now and then. The torsion bar suspension on these was only used from 60-62 I think, and hard to find new parts for. I replaced the hydrovac on mine, but I don't use the truck much and would like to sell it. $800 and it's yours!

Bigjohn83, you need the "horseshoe" engine mount to do what you want.

DON is right, the front suspension parts are tough to find for the '60-'62 series. A friend of mine has a '62 C30 and is converting from 235 to 350 SBC. I supplied him with "ramshorns" manifolds and alternator mounts for the swap. I haven't heard from him in a while,; I'll have to ask him how it's progressing, if at all.

Wish I had $800, a tow truck would be coool........
cool

Does the wrecker part work?

Yea my truck has that "horseshoe" engine mount that you describe gmc248. And the wrecker works good. It's a Holmes 400 single boom. I've used it to tow my own junk in and out of my yard, but that's about it. I don't know what gears are in the rear, but man is it low! 55 and it's really wound up!

Man, I wish I could!! Unfortinetly, I've got my diesel pickup to work on, the 61 to finish, and I'm going to school. Also, I don't have space to park one truck, let alone 3. Hey, where are you? I noticed the concord, where is that? If you're close, I'd really like to see it. If nothing else, can you post some pictures? Also, what kind of shape is this truck in? Also, is it registered, and if so, what your fees? The dmv quotewd me like $400 to register mine, and they also said that I own 8 years of back fees due to some title screw up. Also, how did you insure it? State farm told me that I'd have to go comercial with the 10000+ gvw, and it was like $2000 a year. One more, what's the light weight on your truck? MAn I want that truck. A tow truck is just too cool. Don't sell it yet. smile
