Hello. I know this may sound like a dumb question but on my 1947 the tank is underneath the bed on the driver's side and the filler neck goes through the side of the bed just behind the cab. I have seen several pictures of what say they are 47's but the filler neck seem to be in different places. How did it come from the factory? Thanks
The 1947.5 half-ton truck and the 1948 truck have the fuel tank under the bed and the filler neck goes out of the bed just behind the cab on the passenger (right) side. The tank was moved inside the cab in 1949.

This is interesting. We have always put the filler on the passenger side when we make bedsides for that truck. We have an original bedside with the filler on the passenger side and we used it for the pattern. It looks like more research is needed.
1947 Truck Specifications Manual - Page 93 - fuel tank was clamped to the outer side of the right-side frame member - on all 1947 trucks. Filler location on right side - for all USA trucks.
1948 Truck Specifications Manual - Page 93 - fuel tank inside of frame for small trucks (3100-3800) and outside of right frame member on large trucks. Filler location on right side - for all USA trucks.

A 47.1 we did 30 years ago with driver side filler neck. Neck and tank were rusted so we made a new tank and used a straight filler neck but the frame mount brackets were a reverse image of factory passenger side mounts and hole in the bed was factory looking. Might be something to the export idea.
