Got a 12v replacement fan motor for my Fresh Air heater. It’s a NAPA #655-1020. I have read that most owners slightly egg out the original holes to mount the motor in the original housing. Just wondering why not drill two new holes in the housing that match the bolt pattern of the new 12v motor. Is there any problem doing it this way? I want to use it as is- not put into the 6v fan motor housing.
Say what you will about Deve, for or against (I have done my share of both), he nailed it on this heater motor swap. One of the smart things he did was elongating the holes rather than making new ones. This will give you a positive reference for locating the motor to the housing in the proper location. Drilling entirely new holes may lead to the squirrel cage contacting the inside of the housing. The clearance is rather tight. Carl

I totally agree with you Carl. I went with a 12V motor as per Deve's step-by-step installation. It fits nicely and makes the cab warm and toasty!
