I've always been a huge fan of 'burbs. I've owned two 1980s "squarebody" models, and two 2000s models, one of which is our current family car. With four kids and a dog, the burb is the only vehicle (other than a passenger van) than can accommodate all 6 of us and our stuff comfortably. They are also one of the most practical all-around utility vehicles--you can easily haul full sheets of plywood or drywall with the seats folded down (3rd row removed), and they have great towing capacity.

In 2005, my wife and I were newlyweds and didn't have any kids yet. We had a 4wd 1986 Suburban. We took 4 of our college pals (6 people total), all luggage, a huge army tent, and camp gear way up in the mountains on the jeep trails and found an awesome, remote spot for a great camp-out experience. Burb experienced a partial steering failure due to the roughness of the jeep trails, but thanks to God, we got down the mountain and to the nearest parts store for a quick fix.

Long live the Suburban! I'm sure I will own one for the rest of my life.

We had a 67 'burb in the mid/late 70's. I helped my step-father rebuild the engine.

Another quality post.
