Returning the truck to the original color, Mariner Blue, I’ve found door handles with and without a rubber gasket. Somebody forgot! The front hood “Chevrolet” emblem did not have a gasket. Online I’ve noticed new emblems with and others without a rubber gasket. My question is, originally was there a rubber gasket under this emblem? Seems like it would have been a good idea. Does anyone know the answer?

Mine didn't. Jim Carter's website indicates it's an optional item for restoration and that GM didn't use them at the factory. Link

Perhaps after the war rubber was still not readily available and at a reasonable price. When I removed mine the repaint was scarred and there was a ton of dirt and pine needles under the emblem. As a work vehicle likely was not an important item. Another learning lesson. 🙂 | | |
