Way back in my brain I remember reading that the attachment of the cab windlace, that goes round the door opening inside the cab, changed. At the start of the A-D series, the windlace was attached by a metal molding with screws. By at least 1950 the windlace had been redesigned with a "tongue" that went into a channel around the door opening. No need for the molding or screws. I went thru the A-D Spotters guide on this site, and reviewed all of Jim Carter's tech articles about the A-D series, and found nothing.

Anyone know the details of that? Any pictures of your windlace? Thanks!

Details on when the windlace attachment changed?

Here is the information that JC had on his old website.

On my 47.2 3100 the cab windlace is installed with screws. A friend's '48 3100 is the same. It's my understanding this is true for early '49. Late '49 thru '54 the windlace 'slides' into a track around the door. Here's a picture of my windlace.

Andy is correct (‘49 installations would have been to consume existing stock) in addition there is the two-piece headliner center bow. This includes a piece spot welded into the cab and a screw on center bow, later superseded by the floating “S” type. There are other subtle changes, screens instead of paper on radio grills, ‘48 only park brake dash bracket “knee breaker.” Several running changes to the cowl vent on the driver side, etc.

hmmmm . . . do you think all those different parts ran out at the same time/vehicle?

I wonder if they had a changeover party?

My 49 has the above “2 piece center bow”. The center has a spot welded brace with another piece that screws into it.
