Hi all,

I could use some help with some bed measurements. I am building my own bed since my frame is different than a 1/2 or 3/4 ton. I started with a 1.5 ton farm truck so straight frame rails. I removed the 14' foot grain box and cutoff about 3' of frame.

I found the 1/2 ton bed specs to be width as 48.5", the length 78", the height 16.5". What I can't tell is where they measured the width and height.

1) Is the width the inside measurement or all the way at the outside edge of the angled bed top (the outside of the rolled edge)?

2) To get the height correct I was hoping someone could measure from the front center of their bed to the bottom of the belt line on the cab.

3) On the 1/2 ton how far does the bed extend past the rear fender?

4) How much space is there between the cab and the front of the bed near the center of the cab?

1/2 ton bed was 78" long inside and 48-1/2 wide inside. Height was 16-1/4" overall and 14" to the bend near the top of the bed side, both measurements from the floor.
I can't see the dimension from the rear of the fenders to the rear of the bed directly, but you may be able to figure it out from the dimensions given in the figures.

Thanks, I forgot I had that. It answered all but question 2. When they show the bed measurements it is the bed itself but there are mounts, spacers, and such that I don't have. The first diagram shows the frame to the cab top where as the bed dimensions are from the bed floor. I can't seem to derive the frame to bed floor or bed floor to top of cab. The frame diagram shows a 4" kick up on the 1/2 ton frame so I would guess the frame to bottom of bed frame would have to be a least 4" plus the bed frame (1.5" ?) at the cab. I think I can figure out the fender as they have the axle center point to cab and back.

So hopefully someone has a '41 or '46 and wouldn't mind taking a quick measurement of the front of the bed center to the bottom of the belt line. I could probably guess and get within a few inches but I would love to make it look as close as I can.
