The gauges in my 46 appear to be the same gauges they had in the 36 - 39. Does anyone know if they installed the older style gauges in the 46 2 tons? I ask because it doesn't look like they were ever changed out but who would know the whole history of these machines.
My guess is that you have the smaller dash (with accompanying gauges) from 36-39, grafted or bolted on to a 41-46 truck. The windshield has a dividing bar, not correct for the earlier trucks which had a single piece of flat glass. The steering wheel is 41-46 also. It actually looks pretty good and I was just go with it. The vendors have inexpensive decals for the earlier gauges so you can just fix 'em up. Kent
Hy Kregus and guys, the first year of that cab design was 1939 and that was the only year they had the dash that Kregus sent us a picture of. If Kregus could send us his trucks serial number we would know if he actually has a 1939 truck, hope that helps.
I am 99% positive the truck is a 46. Here is a few more photos. Unfortunately I have not been able to locate the serial number yet. I have heard it is stamped on the frame as well but I haven't gotten into that portion of it yet
Forget looking on the frame, it is not there. Trucks of this era used the motor # for ID. The # is stamped on the flate plate next to the distributor. If you're lucky the original ID tag will be on on the right cowl panel. SEE PHOTO. Harold
Hy Guys, that dash has been installed very crudely, look at all the screw heads all the way across the dash, it is definitely not the dash that cab left the factory with.
