I’d love to know how someone installed 22.5 Alcoa rims on a big bolt:

Of course this is 6 and mine is 5....but I’d still love to know how it was done.

I have seen alloy wheels with Budd 6 on 9 lugs.

Those axles might have the 2.5 ton rockwell bolt pattern. If so, there's a good deal of aftermarket support for them

Never did understand why anyone would want to put Alcoas on a nice antique truck. Looks stupid.

All it needs now are fuzzy dice and neon purple lights under the chassis. Way to ruin a (once) beautiful Steel Soldier. Yuck.

Here's my Steel Soldier dumper -- kept original. But if you want to go faster(er) and put radials on it, buy a newer version (like an M-817) but don't desecrate a WWii truck. That just looks awful.

Alloy wheels don't look too bad if you paint them green. :{)

I've come to the conclusion that since car and truck body styling has plummeted to pitiful depths of lacking beauty, that owners try to make up for it with fancy wheels.

"Hey, I have a car/truck that looks just as uninspired as everyone else's, wait a second, I could change the wheels. Then people will look at my wheels instead of the failure of design that is my car/truck body."

Back when cars and trucks looked good, they just had steel wheels. Why would you want to look at pretty wheels when your eyes can feast on all those gorgeous pre 1970's lines? Nice wheels are an accent that draws your attention. Old car and truck bodies are an accent. It bugs my sense of aesthetics when attention grabbing wheels are put on an attention grabbing body.

Honestly I’d just like to be a able to run modern radials on some decent looking rims. I can’t find any 7.50x20 or 8.25x20 radials.

They do have radial steer tires but no agressive mud tires for the rear. This is going to be a hobby farm truck and I need the traction.

Since it's a farm truck, get the cheaper bias tires...Check out eBay...you can get a set of (4) 8.25 M/S for the rear and (2) 7.50 Steer for the front...

adapters are available at speed shops to convert a 8 bolt hub to 10 bolt to accept Alcoa rims. No idea of price.
I agree with John alloy rims don't always improve a vehicles appearance . My truck came with alloys which I believe looked out of place so I painted them with plastiguard available here in Canada at Canadian Tire, , to match the bumpers and grill.
To prep the rims I simply cleaned the rims with thinner and applied the plastiguard , no primer. To remove the paint simply apply paint thinner on and pressure wash .
I did mine 3 years ago and traveled in all kinds of conditions and have had no trouble with the finish .
